More about me

I typically spend my leisure time

Enjoying the arts, especially ballet. Ballroom dancing is my hobby. I dance International Standard and Latin when there is not music playing and will attempt to dance anything and everything when there is. Watching ice hockey (I find sports indescribably dull, but love hockey?) Enjoying good food, cheese, and wine. Sleeping. Attending extra-curricular history lectures. Reading.

The most influential person in my life has been

Someone who laughs at my jokes. It is usually a very good indicator that we will get along well.

The first thing people notice about me

I am a pretty difficult person not to notice, for better and for worse. I am one of those people who starts conversations with strangers while waiting in line for the bathroom. What can I say, I think other people are pretty fascinating.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I read a lot. A few of my favorites: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Animal Farm, The Ugly Duckling, Harry Potter, Bee Season, The Commitment (Dan Savage is one of my favorite writers), King Leopold's Ghost, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, On Beauty. Basically... Is it historical? If not, are the characters genuine? Are the sentences short and declarative? Do you know where the verb is? Did I learn something or think about something in a new way? If the answer to all these questions is "yes, " than chances are I liked it.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I love my job and feel I was very lucky to get it.
  2. My Roommates. I don't know what I would do without them.
  3. Indoor plumbing.
