More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about living and all the wonderful people and beauty in my life. I love animals and nature - puppies, endangered species, the ocean/beaches, the majestic Rockies. Music can brighten my life instantly, I love music. I like culture, so I like wine, art (the Met has my favorites), reading - a span of genres. I love travel and seeing new places and experiencing new things. I love sunshine and to be active in it - tennis, sailing, playing in the ocean. I love to get dressed up and I love dresses. I also can put on a great pair of jeans to watch football. I love to dance at fun events.

I typically spend my leisure time

I really enjoy being with my friends, socializing, reading, traveling or doing fun new activities. I like to go to events and cultural things. I like to go to Central Park on very pretty days and I love a good movie. I also love listening to music and photography.

The most influential person in my life has been

The ability to care for others, emotionally connect, laugh and someone with a strong moral, value system. I know that's more than one quality, but I think they're all "most importants." And yes, I do know what a superlative is :).

The first thing people notice about me

Other than appearance, I think people say it's my "great energy", my sense of style, or maybe my smile or my eyes.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I'm currently reading "The Crocodile Who Ate the Sun" - a true story about the strife in Zimbabwe. It's a bit heavy, but a great look inside some of the troubles in Africa. On the flip-side and a lighter note, I recently read "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson and laughed out loud at his wit. I'm a huge Mark Twain fan. I also recently read "The Help", a fiction novel with deep roots set in the South, not far from where I was raised.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My loving family, my wonderful friends and my fortunate upbringing
  2. My health
  3. The ability to laugh

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

One of my best girlfriends now was in a class of mine freshman year in college - we became close friends by sophomore year and have both lived in the City for years afterwards. Only a few years back did she jokingly tell me that when she didn't know me yet and first saw me walk into our Speech class in college, she thought I was a goody two-shoes snob :). Apparently I was in some school skirt and my notebooks were neatly stacked, etc. Little did she know then that she would quickly learn I'm the opposite - down to earth, non-judgmental, and I probably had just done my homework on the fly that morning.
