The one thing I am passionate about...
Wildlife, Politics, Religion and Taekwondo. The vast diversity and complexity of wildlife is astounding to me. God has such a great imagination and sense of humor. Look at a Hornbill! There is nothing more interesting that getting into a great political or religious discussion with someone of opposing views. Not that I try to force my opinion. Hearing someone elses perspective as to what facts led them to their conclusion and exchanging those ideas and facts is fascinating. Martial Arts is an excellent outlet for me. I love a good sparring match and the time, effort and focus it takes to develope it and pass it on to others.
I typically spend my leisure time
My leisure time is very limited. My stress relief is usually martial arts but even that time is limited these days. When the opportunity presents itself, I do enjoy just reading or sitting still. That is usually when I catch up on the phone with friends or family. I am not a sit still kind of person though. I guess I feel there is always something else that needs to get done. I do enjoy letting my girls bring as many of their friends as possible and have scary movies, going to the beach or water parks, or road trips with my girls.
The most influential person in my life has been
A spiritual leader that also has great communication skills. That someone would be willing to have a complete discussion and listen to others perspective. That does not mean a need to agree with it, just empathize.
The first thing people notice about me
That I will talk to anyone, in a store, on the street, (even the bad ones) or anyplace. I will make a joke if they look to serious and laugh or at least a friendly smile. I am often told I am funny...I hope they don't mean funny looking! ;)
The last book I read and enjoyed
Keeping up with email is always a challenge but hardly stimulating! I catch varying versions of the bible as often as possible but the last book was "Zookeepers Wife" Diane Ackerman-It is a historical book based on the diaries of the curator ot Warsaw, Poland Zoo during WWII and how they managed to use the zoo enclosures and busy atmosphere of the zoo to hide Jews and survive. It was so beautifully descriptive and read like a story instead of a journal.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- The family and children who bring laughter, light and frustration to my life.
- My Faith. I know that every mountain thrown in my path will be surpassed even when I feel that climbing is not worth it.
- The wisdom to know that every thing I have and don't have are all blessings.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I hold myself with confidence which makes me look "tough"? When people talk to me they realize I am a softy with a huge heart.
Friends Describe me as
Caring, Funny, Genuine, Hard Working
A little more about me
I am originally from the west coast. I joined the Air Force and traveled a lot and lived in several states as well as overseas. I would love to move back west to be closer to family. LIfe is too short to live with regrets and self pitty. Although I have goals, I know that those are my goals and not necessariy those of God. Poor guy, I must be like trying to drive a semi over a mountain in a snow storm with high winds!
