More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Growing in a relationship with Jesus Christ, and showing his love to others. Caring for poor and suffering children in developing countries is especially on my heart. I love working with kids and helping them grow.I have a deep love of nature, and am passionate about caring for and appreciating this amazing Creation. I am passionate about taking a longer time to do less things, and having those things being more meaningful, memorable, and worthwhile.

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy doing something creative, usually either writing or getting my hands dirty sketching or painting. When the weather is nice I love to walk down a wooded trail, noticing the changes in the seasons, or go hiking. When the weather is dreary, I like to get lost in a library or bookstore, ending up in the cafe with a pen in my hand jotting down my thoughts or inspiration for a story.

The most influential person in my life has been

Someone who has a sincere faith, and who puts God overall in his life. A warm person with a generous and open heart, who cares about other people easily. And, of course, a wonderful sense of humor.

The first thing people notice about me

I seem nice. If someone was walking down a street full of strangers and needed directions, they would see me and think, 'I'll ask her, she seems nice." Which would be a mistake. I am horrible with directions. I am probably responsible for many hopelessly lost people.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. It's a nonfiction about a family taking on the challenge to only eat what they grew themselves or could get locally for a year. It was a fascinatingly informative look at the "ugly truth" of the American food industry, but also a positive account of the joy that can be found in growing your own food.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The love and grace of God
  2. My loving and supportive family
  3. All the beauty and diversity in the world

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My creative side. I tend to keep my art and writing to myself most of the time.

I'd just like to share a favorite quote from a wise amphibian:"Well, I have a dream too, but it's about singing and dancing and making people happy. It's the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with. "-Kermit the Frog
