The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about learning - I enjoy literature, art, philosophy, theatre - essentially the humanities. Therefore these things consume a great deal of my time. It should also be said that these are the things I study, and therefore have become something I've dedicated a great deal of my life to. I've earned a Bachelor's in Philosophy and a Bachelor's in Comparative Religions; I will be attending Graduate School this coming fall to continue my studies...
I typically spend my leisure time
I enjoy reading most types of literature - specifically American post-modern. This consumes a great deal of my time. Also, surprisingly enough, I watch CNN a lot, merely because real life has become more entertaining than anything else on TV.
The most influential person in my life has been
I suppose integrity would be something that comes to mind - someone who is sure of themselves, that doesn't require constant affirmation. Someone that doesn't second guess themselves...
The first thing people notice about me
I guess it's my personality - I don't necessarily engage in those social niceties that are there to convey irrelevant information - e.g. "how's the weather?" or "how's it going?" (and leave it at that). So when people try to engage me in these shallow conversations, I usually grind the norm and respond in crazy ways... I don't want it to seem like I'm a negative person, cause I'm not, rather I guess it's more an eccentric attitude..... I'm a trained philosopher for god's sake; I have the right to be weird....
The last book I read and enjoyed
Barring non-fiction texts that I am required to read, the last book I read was Don DeLillo's Mao II. DeLillo is a post-modern writer who attacks certain negative aspects in American culture, things like crass commercialization, scattered religious identity, the breaking apart of the 'family unit' and reassembling it again, etc... Mao II specifically looks at the death of writers as social critics in light of the emergence of terror in the late 20th C.
The three things which I am most thankful for
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Nothing really comes to mind - I suppose if one considers the aforementioned comment about social niceties, once engaged in conversation, I think I can be a great conversationalist... Some people might misunderstand me...
Friends Describe me as
Articulate, Creative, Intelligent, Kind
A little more about me
Well, I would say that I am a fairly witty and clever person. I think I am pretty fun to be around. I am good at making others feel comfortable. I can engage in conversation across a fairly wide breadth of subjects. I don't judge anyone, I don't hate anyone, I never get angry...
