More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I'm passionate about the people that I love. I want them to be happy and healthy and safe, and preferably well-fed. I'm passionate about creating things with my hands - baking, cooking, sewing, quilting. And I'm passionate about holding onto the center of myself - knowing that even if things are going wrong around me and my life isn't everything I'd like it to be, I can always center myself and find peace within myself. I'm passionate about my grandchildren, spending time with them, learning from them and teaching them, and getting to see the world through their eyes one more time.

I typically spend my leisure time

First thing that comes to mind is baking and cooking. It's the act of creating something wonderful and beautiful and delicious. I want to taste it, then someone else has to finish eating it because once it's done I lose interest and I'm ready to go on to the next thing. Sewing and quilting fall into that same category, too. Secondly, I love reading. I've been a huge reader since childhood. Biographies, history, fiction, classics, cookbooks, anything except romance novels or vampire books.

The most influential person in my life has been

Kindness.

The first thing people notice about me

My laugh.

The last book I read and enjoyed

"We Were The Mulvaneys" (Joyce Carol Oates). It was about the dynamics and fragility of families, an exploration of love, wrong turns and pulling yourselves together again. Now I'm re-reading "Grace Eventually: Thoughts on Faith" (Anne Lamott) - one of my favorites.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. my family
  2. spirituality and peace
  3. my friends

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I honestly can't think of anything. I'm a little shy, but once I warm up I'm pretty much an open book.

Friends Describe me as

Funny, Good listener, Happy, Warm

A little more about me

Since this is a dating site, I guess I should say that I want you to know that even though I'm so not a beauty queen or size 5, I am very comfortable in my own skin and I'm happy and healthy. I'm smart and funny and I make a killer chocolate cake. I love this stage of my life, and it's really full, but it would be great to find someone to share it with.
