The one thing I am passionate about...
There are a few things I?m equally passionate about: personal growth, communication, faith, and beauty. To unpack this a bit, I?ve learned the hard way that I should welcome the inconvenient because it helps me grow in unexpected ways; communication is also my field of study/work; taking my faith seriously has meant, over the years, being open to questions and not settling for ready-made answers; also, I continue to be amazed by God's tender love towards us; my enjoyment of, and need for, beauty translates into--among other things--an ability to turn any place I happen to live in (and I?ve moved quite a bit) into a pleasant, welcoming home.
I typically spend my leisure time
Reading/writing, a walk or a bike ride in a beautiful neighborhood, a good conversation, watching a good movie or going to some cultural event with a friend, trips to used book stores (esp. when I travel). I love traveling and the outdoors; I miss being in the mountains; haven't been in a long time. The outdoors activities/sports that I enjoy and have some practice with (not as much as I'd like) are tennis, skiing, swimming, hiking/camping, and horse riding; I wish I could have more of them in my life, hence my hope for a partner who is active and enjoys the outdoors.
The most influential person in my life has been
I'd say two: integrity and a sense of calling in his life. Why? Because I believe that, besides chemistry and unconditional love (as much as the latter is granted to human beings), respect is essential to rewarding marriages. I see myself with someone with a heart for people and a love for ideas, a man of convictions who doesn't feel threatened by questions.
The first thing people notice about me
I know this falls under ?appearance? but I can?t think of anything else right now; I am told that it is my smile.
The last book I read and enjoyed
"Invitation to Solitude and Silence" by Ruth Haley Barton. A well-written, powerful, inspiring little book. I recommend it warmly. By the way, I am grateful for this question not only because it provides an excellent insight into the kind of person I am reading about, but also because it introduces me to new authors and books! :)
The three things which I am most thankful for
- God's providence & grace (this includes the people in my life)
- opportunities to grow
- good health
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I have no idea how to answer this question..

A little more about me
A few things: I?ve never been married; I can relocate easily as I have no obligation to stay in Pittsburgh; I have a heart for missions and for teaching; I am waiting on God to show me how I am supposed to blend the two once I finish my doctoral work (with God's help, this year). My subscription expired on Jan 17, so from now on I will be able to communicate only during the free communication weekends.
