More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about:1. raising my kids (single dad)2. teaching (pharmacy students) 3. research (cancer and infectious disease)4. music 5. environmental issues

I typically spend my leisure time

1. Watching movies/TV. Documentaries about issues such as the environment (e.g. global warming, whale hunting, alternative energy, etc). Science Fiction (e.g. Blade Runner, Fifth Element), period dramas (e.g. Elizabeth), and comedy specials (e.g. Lewis Black).2. Going on drives (traveling) to natural places (lived in Santa Cruz CA, and Washington State (Olympic Peninsula) love the forest and ocean). Hiking and camping.3. Making great food or going out to restaurants.

The most influential person in my life has been

Ability to be loving.

The first thing people notice about me

Ability to express myself.

The last book I read and enjoyed

"Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell. Although we typically think we need to get as much information as possible about a problem before coming up with a good solution, it turns out that this might not always be the case. He cites examples of experts in various fields that quickly pull out a few important facts from a sea of information and make correct decisions without mulling over all the information. He thinks we all (not just "experts") do this quite a bit in our daily life and just are not aware that we do it. What I liked about this book is that it was on a really creative topic about human thinking (intuition), and that he might be right.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am thankful for my children.
  2. I am thankful that I have a great job.
  3. I am thankful for my great friends.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Honestly, I don't have "wishes" like this.

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Creative, Funny, Intelligent

A little more about me

I go by my middle name Mike (Michael). Have kind of a nerdy job (professor), but actually I'm not much of a nerd - I'm good at what I do, but do not like all the nonsense. Also, I'm not altogether comfortable doing this eharmony thing, probably like most of you too. I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings or have mine hurt. I just work quite a bit, and there is no way to meet anyone (the story we probably all tell). Anyone who is on one of these sites is really brave (at least to me).
