The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about building equity within the public education system for minorities and other under-served populations in this country. As a teacher I feel strongly connected to that passion each and every day I go to work. I am also passionate in my own pursuits which are; to deepen my spiritual practice of meditation and yoga, to exercise, and to participate in the arts (especially photography, painting, and documentary filmmaking). I love dancing - I've taken some Salsa and Swing before... I even used to run a swing band in high school called "The Swingers"!... I enjoy singing, and all creative expressions that bring joy to the world.
I typically spend my leisure time
With my leisure time, I enjoy most running/bike riding in Central Park, reading a good book, or grabbing meals with friends. I love frequenting the Met, doing yoga, playing sports (including basketball, squash, and golf), and exploring new parts of NYC nightlife (whether its a new show, a new lounge, or a small jazz venue!) I have a daily meditation and asana practice that I just started to take very seriously after going on a yoga retreat over the summer. Also, due to my new found appreciation for the vegetarian diet, I have started to experiment with new dishes as cooking has always been a passion for me!
The most influential person in my life has been
A sense of spirituality that is based in universal love for other beings. A sense of being grounded and having confidence in one's own skin.
The first thing people notice about me
That I have a lot of energy and am funny. I love to make others laugh!
The last book I read and enjoyed
I just finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. After reading "The Kite Runner" I was waiting to get to his second book. I find him to be such a poetic novelist. Very personal and touching stories of the hardships that have taken place in Afghanistan during the past decades. Highly recommended!
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My Parents.
- My health.
- The support of my close friends.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I have a very quiet side to me that likes to listen and meditate.
Friends Describe me as
Ambitious, Caring, Funny, Hard Working
A little more about me
I have had great long term relationships in the past and am looking to find someone who I can deeply connect with who can add to my daily joy and peace. Perhaps that someone is you...? :)
