More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

The inspiring beauty of nature. Creative fiction. The French language. Finding and being around people who are a force for good -- not in a big or flashy way, but in small ways that often go unnoticed. Also, my secret joy in life is finding novel ways to make those closest to me laugh out loud.

I typically spend my leisure time

I don't know about "typically" since I don't have much leisure time... But I can tell you how I LIKE to spend it! Most of my life is a whirlwind of activity and other people, so I take great pleasure in having time alone to read, write, or just sit and watch the world go by (rare but decadent!). I would love to spend more time "canoodling"; but sadly I need a partner for that activity. ;-) Other favorites: conversations with friends over a glass of wine, people watching / imagining, foreign movies, exploring small European towns (it's been a decade), comedy clubs, hiking, fiddling around in my garden.

The most influential person in my life has been

Good health -- on many levels. Healthy attitude, healthy body, healthy balance, healthy lust for life and for doing the important things before you leave the planet!

The first thing people notice about me

My friendliness, kindness, and ability to put people at ease through humor and openness. Also that I am good at my job and work very hard.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Twilight. I started to read it and enjoyed it, but I stopped reading it after the cruise ended. Now it sits on my nightstand because it seems silly to read about teenage vampires unless you're on vacation. I just started reading Outliers, I'll let you know!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Genetic luckiness, which I had nothing to do with, such as a sharp mind, healthy body, pleasant face, etc.
  2. That a series of (sometimes hastily-made) decisions actually led me to a life I truly enjoy.
  3. To have been born at this location on the planet, where we enjoy safety, freedom, and natural beauty.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I think sometimes people only see one side of you. So some people see my professional side and don't notice that I am also a dedicated, involved mom. Or they see my "mom" side and don't notice that I am also a young, fun-loving and independent person. It's not their fault if they haven't yet seen the whole picture!

Friends Describe me as

Affectionate, Articulate, Funny, Hard Working

A little more about me

One thing I can say about myself is that the words "plain" and "ordinary" will never describe me. :-) It's rare to find someone who is both good and daring; ambitious and laid back; accepting of others, yet interestingly opinionated. I am those things, and I'm looking for the same in the person I spend my time with! Hmm... Other than "truly nice" and "stable", I'm looking for someone who is naughty, funny, and extremely sexy! It's not often you find someone who is all of those things; but I think it's worth it to wait for the one who is.
