The one thing I am passionate about...
**NOTE: I am out of the country until mid-end July, please forgive me if I am SLOW to respond/reply. I am unsure about my internet accessibility while traveling abroad. Thanks for your patience and understanding. **I am passionate about being a good parent, issues around education, history, music, reading and writing, great food, and travel.
I typically spend my leisure time
I love to read and write (though I wish more was for pleasure than purely academic - but I don't have the time!), I enjoy being outside hiking, jeeping, sailing, swimming, horseback riding, and I am a bit of a computer junkie. ;)
The most influential person in my life has been
I look for a good sense of humor, flexibility, intelligence and ability to meet me on an intellectual level, but as well as a passionate level, too. A fantastic sexual chemistry and a comfortable friendship are huge.
The first thing people notice about me
My ease in conversation. I am easy to talk to, and I love a good conversation.
The last book I read and enjoyed
It's rare that I get to read a 'pleasure' book during the school year because most of my reading time is vastly consumed with academic-type readings. But I actually read an entire 400pg pleasure book last weekend while waiting at an airport and on the airplane, and then back. It was called "The Kite Runner" and was a sort of... coming of age book about a young man from Afghanistan. My grandma recommended it to me, and I loved it. It was probably one of the most moving novels I'd ever read.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- I am thankful to be a mother to my amazing little boy. It has been the single most rewarding, challenging, overwhelming yet loving experience I have ever had in my entire life. To be a parent has shown me what an unconditional love can truly be. I love being a parent.
- I am thankful for the ability to face adversity directly, to overcome obstacles that hurt me, for the strength to move on, and the drive to better myself and that of my child. When things get tough, I don't quit, but I don't allow myself to be taken advantage of either.
- I am thankful for the success I have worked hard to earn. I am very goal oriented, and I have worked hard to accomplish everything that I have now in my life. I believe that hard work pays off and I admire those who work hard to achieve their dreams.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'm really multi-faceted. I have so many diverse and unique interests and I love to try new things, all the time.
Friends Describe me as
Affectionate, Ambitious, Creative, Intelligent
A little more about me
I'm a bit of a nerd sometimes! I read and get excited about research and enjoy a heated, fruitful, intense debate! Politics, religion, sexuality, education, etc. Bring it on! I really enjoy being stimulated intellectually, but I also am so down-to-earth and fun to be with. I can make any situation a 'good time' to share and have the ability to see the best of people and situations.
