More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about my education and the career track I have chosen. After having completed one year at the College of William and Mary, I find myself a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I want to learn everything there is to learn about the fashion business, from the designing of a garment to the formulation a six-month open-to-buy plan. I never want to know what occurs once you stop learning and evolving.

I typically spend my leisure time

I love getting in the car with a good friend and driving to nowhere in particular - the destination is of little importance, but it's all about the ride. I'm also incredibly close with my mother, and I love spending time with her. Whether we are seeing a movie or poring over this month's Vogue reveling in the art and beauty, her company is something I truly enjoy. I find something oddly cathartic about reading the local newspaper; I always save the comics for last, like when I was little.

The most influential person in my life has been

I am looking for someone that recognizes how much I truly have to offer and who isn't afraid to give me just as much in return.

The first thing people notice about me

I speak clearly and with confidence. I have opinions and I generally do not hesitate to share them.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The Roots of Desire, by Marion Roach. It was a look at the motif of redheads throughout the ages aimed at trying to pinpoint where biases may have come from and why we, as a population, hold certain stereotypes and how these stereotypes, biases, and beliefs have transformed over time.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I know not where I would be were it not for the love, care, and guidance of my mother.
  2. My younger sister keeps me grounded - I want to be a role model for her.
  3. I am so grateful to have people in my life that show me the definition of unconditional love.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

People often judge me for the way I look. They look at me and think that they have everything about me completely figured out, but I have been told (and am tired of hearing) that I am "smarter than I look". I am not ashamed of my intelligence but for some reason my physical appearance initially detracts from it, and it can get frustrating.

A little more about me

I want to be appreciated and loved for what I have to offer, not held in disdain for my shortcomings.
