More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Learning about other cultures; discussing cultural and political differences to see where there is common ground and where there is something for me to learn; connecting with people at a profound level; architecture--particularly art deco; my business;

I typically spend my leisure time

Seeing friends; going to the movies; holding up the pillars of cafe society; reading; walking uphill

The most influential person in my life has been

I like a man who has a certain degree of self-confidence; someone with a clear capacity and willingness for intimacy in their life; a man who is interested in the affairs fo the world; someone with a great sense of humor; authenticity and integrity; the capacity for spontaneity, a gleam in the eye. I'm looking for someone to go to the occasional museum, a show at Yoshi's, or Stern Grove in the summer.

The first thing people notice about me

That I'm warm and friendly, and playful.

The last book I read and enjoyed

"Old Filth"--they had me with the title; fiction about a retired British judge going over his bizarre history as a "Raj child," and coming to terms with his age."The Nine" by Jeffrey Toobin; non-fiction about the current justices on the Supreme Court. Extremely well-written and insightful; I met Toobin through my work though I was already familiar with him from his writing in the New Yorker.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My family who gave me a rich vocabulary and an interest in the world
  2. My 2 nearly-grown kids
  3. My ability to connect with people

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That I'm better looking than I look. No no, it's mostly out there when I meet someone, but the pleasure is the discovery of the many layers.

Friends Describe me as

Articulate, Funny, Outgoing, Warm
