More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I play guitar & bass and lead contemporary Christian worship services through out the year. I throw myself totally into that. Why do it if not to make it the best I can? I meet interesting folks that way, and my kids often join me. I take my job as a middle school teacher in a Catholic school very seriously, and realize the impact I have had on kids in the past. I love my job-- every year, every day has its interesting challenges-- it is never the same 2 days in a row. I am considered a 'highly sensitive person,' and need things to feel safe and comfortable before I commit myself. Look before you leap!

I typically spend my leisure time

* I like to get away by myself and exercise-- run in the woods, work out in the basement while watching 'House' if the kids are home, clear my mind. **I like learning new music, listening to it, playing it.***I like sitting on our deck looking at the trees, drinking coffee, reading the paper... I just wish I didn't have to do these things alone all the time, nowadays.

The most influential person in my life has been

Honesty and openness. I should know you BETTER than your girl friends at some point.

The first thing people notice about me

Hmmm. I tend to think and speak 'outside the box.' But since I do not open up right away, I suppose the first think people notice is how quiet I am.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I am reading 3 at once-- "beyond consequences, logic, and control,' 'the connected child,' and 'NOT out of Africa.' The first two in order to help me at this single parent thing, and the last because I have always been suspicious of Afrocentrism-- any 'centrism,' really.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am thankful for my wonderful children aged 15 and 6-- they help me see the joy in everyday living.
  2. I thank God for my health and home, for my job and ability to care for my kids.
  3. I am thankful for how others have helped my become the person I am today, and hope I have helped others better themselves as well.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That if they approached me in a friendly way first, I would open up much more quickly!

A little more about me

It takes a while to see me. Layers. You know, the 'onion' thing. But there is nothing scary that you will find.
