The one thing I am passionate about...
A little of everything. My daily activities usually revolve around fitness activities such as running (don't you just love it when your legs feel like Jell-o after a run) or being with friends (Grill out on the back porch?). I also would like to have a dog again, I just love dogs! Maintaining and improving a house is a great joy, i.e. landscaping or painting. (I'll help anyone re-tile a bathroom or put down wood floors) Finally, I have an extreme desire to learn about foreign culture, their food, their art, museums and architecture of other countries. I'm not Catholic, but I love to go to new Cathedrals of the places that I visit.
I typically spend my leisure time
I exercise on a regular basis. I've had some small injuries training for some races, so I hope this winter I can get a base so I can fun next summer. Also, with good company, walks and hikes are great too. In the past, I used to have a dog, which made the running, walking, roller blading more fun. I also enjoy being with my significant other and sitting outside to talk about whatever. Or hosting a small get-together with a close knit group of friends and hanging out...maybe Fondue where were can laugh and talk to each other?
The most influential person in my life has been
Communication. If a person is able to have the ability to have a good conversation, then I think you can go a long way. Also, as a couple progresses, you can effectively resolve issues that come up. A very difficult skill.
The first thing people notice about me
Hopefully, that I am intelligent, but not in a cocky or arrogant way. I ultimately despise arrogance. How can a person presume to think they are better then you are before they have even met you....ridiculous.
The last book I read and enjoyed
This would change too often, but some of my recent books are: Ken Follet, the World without End. Water for Elephants. A Tree Grows in Brookyln. Eat, Pray, Love. 3 Cups of Tea. The World Without Us. Blink. Besides random stuff I get at the thrift shop that I have never seen before.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My Parents. The provided me with opportunities that they didn't have.
- My Health. Luckily, I have been able to run marathon distances, and complete small triathlons. I am in research working with autistic models and I understand that a child with autism will never be without their parents guidance. So, the fact that I am a healthy fit individual shouldn't be taken for granted. These are the times when you realize that money doesn't buy happiness.
- I'm most thankful for the people I know. One such person died at 51 several years ago from cervical cancer. I was one of many that took care of her, but she changed my point of view on life. She taught me many things before her death and through her death.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I think people first notice that I am a kind of serious person, and while that is true, I am really down to earth, very funny, and sensitive. I take everything with a grain of salt and very rarely let things get me down.
Friends Describe me as
