The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about God. He permeates all that I do. Being passionate about God means that I am passionate about life - living it to the fullest! I want to be fully there, fully engaged in what I am doing! I love hanging around people. I love sharing stories. I love making music. I love teaching. Furthermore, I have a passion to help people.
I typically spend my leisure time
I like to read. I like to exercise, particularly running and lifting weights. Thankfully, I have some friends who are encouraging me to spend more time outdoors. So, now I have a hammock to go backpacking!
The most influential person in my life has been
Hmm...most important quality? Spirituality - a desire to follow God. That's most important to me. I don't mean that in a dry religious sense. God has humor. He is caring and compassionate. He laughs (at least I think He does). With all that said, I am interested in someone who can be serious and fun, caring and strong, smart and funny.
The first thing people notice about me
Hopefully, that I will listen to them. I want people to feel comfortable around me, regardless of where they meet me (school, walmart, restaurant, etc.).
The last book I read and enjoyed
Untamed by Alan Hirsch. It is about how we have domesticated our Christianity to the point that it hardly looks anything like Jesus' life and ministry. This book intriguingly calls Christians (i.e. the Church) to question societal norms, understandings about God, and the way we perceive Jesus' mission in order to become more authentic followers of Jesus. Good stuff!
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family. They have been there for me through thick and thin!
- My job. I am so blessed to work with students. I love the variety of my job. Also, it can be vary challenging at times.
- Jesus. He truly is the focus and center of my life. I am so thankful for the opportunities He has given me to serve Him.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Just because I am silent, it doesn't mean that I am quiet. When I meet new people, I am usually slightly nervous. Of course, I can be extremely outgoing at times (I am teacher). I just would consider myself a "think before you speak" kind of person.
Friends Describe me as
Hard Working, Spiritual, Sweet, Thoughtful
A little more about me
I guess I am a southern boy (polite, opening doors for women, & hospitable). I do have a light accent (in my opinion). There are positives to being raised in rural areas: I know how to back a trailer, ride a horse, work in the dirt...but I do love traveling to urban cities like Chattanooga or Huntsville. I know how to appreciate classical music and jazz. I majored in classical guitar in college. I like to read. My job has a lot of variety to it. I am basically the director of a not-for-profit organization. I organize volunteers, design large scale musical productions, and meet with local and state organizations to promote music...
