More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I love music -- I'll listen to just about anything, and I find nothing more relaxing than some music and a good book. I love the beach, and just being near water makes me happy. I am pretty passionate about some political issues and I love to talk about politics. Being a teacher, I also care a lot about issues affecting schools and children; I love reading and writing about education.

I typically spend my leisure time

To relax, I curl up with a book; that's what helps me re-charge after a long day. I like hiking on weekends (or just trekking through a park here in the city) and I always enjoy spending time with my friends, for a movie or happy-hour or just hanging around and talking.

The most influential person in my life has been

I'm looking for someone who enjoys his life, and who works hard at whatever his goals might be.

The first thing people notice about me

People tend to describe me as "sweet" when they don't know me very well; I'm a little shy at first. I know I've become good friends with someone when they shake their head and smile and say, "You know, when I first met you, you seemed so quiet and sweet..." :)

The last book I read and enjoyed

I am currently slogging my way through "Fall of Giants" by Ken Follet, a10-pound epic set during World War I. I love historical fiction and one of my favorite books is "Pillars of the Earth," also by Follet (also approximately 10 pounds). I like big, "epic" stories like those, with lots of characters, spanning generations -- the more complicated the better.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I have a caring and supportive family and I enjoy spending time with them.
  2. My job is interesting, challenging and fulfilling, but leaves me time for my personal life as well.
  3. Living in New York City is crazy sometimes, but never boring!
