More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Education! I love working with students and seeing them "get it." I'm working on a Masters in Special Education right now and I'm excited to have even more tools to help kids, particularly those that need extra support, reach their goals.

I typically spend my leisure time

I love spending time with my dog, Roam. He is a border collie mix and is my favorite hiking and traveling companion. When I'm not hiking or taking drives with Roam, I also enjoy reading and catching up on the TV shows I miss during the week. Finally, I really appreciate the value of delicious food (and beer) and love to try out new restaurants and breweries.

The most influential person in my life has been

I'm looking for a partner! Someone who can challenge me and who also wants to be challenged. I want to be with someone who has a desire to continue learning and growing and who is open to new experiences. Integrity and a sense of humor are big, too!(He also has to love dogs. That may seem like a small detail, but it's important!)

The first thing people notice about me

I'm not sure, but I would guess that people notice my smile and upbeat personality first. I am an optimist and always try to approach life in a positive way.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I just read a children's novel called "Wildwood" for my children's lit. class. It's written by Colin Meloy, the lead singer of The Decemberists, and is set in Portland's Forest Park. Very Narnia-esque!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My wonderful family! They really are the best.
  2. My friends. They're scattered across the country now, but we always pick up right where we left off.
  3. The beautiful state of Oregon. I am always so thankful that I get to live (and play) in this incredible state!

Friends Describe me as

Affectionate, Happy, Intelligent, Rational

A little more about me

I just moved back to Oregon a couple of months ago, after spending a few years in Colorado & South Dakota. I am a proud Oregon native, though, so I spent the entire time telling everyone how great Oregon is! :) I went to college in Colorado (and firmly believe that Fort Collins is one of the best towns in the U.S.) and then spent three years teaching in South Dakota as a member of Teach for America. So, while my friends were busy settling down post-college, I was busy trying to save the world and educate our youth. Now that I'm back I'm still trying to save the world, I just have more room for a partner to join me in my efforts!
