More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Art, politics, history, nature, family.

I typically spend my leisure time

Taking long walks, writing, going to museums.

The most influential person in my life has been

Strong character and a sense of humor are the two most important qualities, because I want someone who can help me get through whatever life throws at me. What has been missing in my life has been a deep connection with a man who "gets" me, and I "get" him. I want to have his back all the way, and him to have mine, and be able to grow together. I want a man to go on adventures with, who makes me feel secure and stimulates me mentally, and is as emotional and affectionate as I am. Intellectual compatibility is crucial. I need to be with someone who reads books and needs the arts. Mutual respect is important.

The first thing people notice about me

Now how would I know that? I've been told I have a nice smile and make eye contact. When I lived in Ohio people used to approach me and ask me what country I was from. Now that I'm in a diverse area, people from the Middle East assume I am from the Middle East, and people who are Hispanic assume I'm Hispanic. I'm actually part Irish, part Austrian and mostly Italian.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Last Looks, Last Books by Helen Vendler. A fascinating book that examines the poetry of seven modern poets regarding their impending death. Sounds depressing but it's actually inspiring and well written, as all of Helen Vendler's books are. I honestly didn't "get" poetry until I read her!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My parents didn't raise me with a strict religious background.
  2. My writing ability and imagination.
  3. My friends and family are funny, warm, unique human beings.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That I'm actually very tough and resilient, even though I look fragile. I'm also very optimistic and happy inside, although I seem pensive.

Friends Describe me as

Funny, Genuine, Good listener, Intelligent

A little more about me

I'm in my forties chronologically but in my 30s (early, even) as far as my life path...I've always been at least 10 years behind. It's important for my partner to know I'm "behind" he is (unless he's a late bloomer, too). I've finally gotten a good job with benefits and I'm finally getting serious about my writing.
