More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I'm passionate about a lot of things... most definitely my friends, supporting them in every way that I can, as they have done for me. I'm extremely passionate about the Kibera Slum in Nairobi, Kenya, and the children there. Film and Theatre. My amazing church. And overall creating a home and community that I love.

I typically spend my leisure time

I love spending time with my friends and I like to make my home a place where friends like to gather for dinner, drinks, movies, games, the works. I can't wait to see the latest movies that come out each week, so that's usually a priority. And I am already helping an outreach team from my church plan our next trip to Kenya to work with orphans and vulnerable children. I can't wait to get back and see all those precious kids again, being there has a beautiful way of putting your priorities in order!

The most influential person in my life has been

I always say to my girlfriends consistency is the most underrated quality. I am looking for a person who knows he wants and goes after it. This means showing up to be the man I know you can be consistently. I don't handle flakey or wishy washy very well.

The first thing people notice about me

That I am a total kid at heart.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I am notorious for having about 5 books going at once and hardly ever finishing them all, so this is a tough one... TRAVELING MERCIES by Anne Lamott, as well as her follow up books to this one are some of my favorites. She writes with brutal honesty about her struggles with life, faith, family and herself. And her books are in vignette form so I can forever pick them up for a few days and then put them down for a month and then pick them back up again.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My family, which is a hodgepodge of actual relatives, the closest of friends and of course my dog.
  2. My church, an amazing community of people who love me and others so unbelievably well. I learn something new everyday from them.
  3. Film and theater. It can whisk me away to another world, challenge my core beliefs or teach me something new all in the matter of a few hours. I couldn't live without it!

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I'm way stronger than you think I am.
