The one thing I am passionate about...
Learning. I love to learn new ideas and facts. Just as much as learning though, I love to apply and test those things I learn. I get even more excited if other people engage with me in the learning and application of some subject. All of my interests and hobbies (cooking, camping, photography, traveling, sports) revolve around that.
I typically spend my leisure time
I try to interact with my friends (video games, movies, sports, cooking/entertaining, beach, boating/fishing, camping, traveling/sightseeing, ect...) or I volunteer within the community.Life is a series of experiences and I get more out of it if someone else is there with me to share a different perspective.
The most influential person in my life has been
A spirit of adventure both in experience and knowedge - The foundation for growth in any subject relies on our desire to push the boundary of comfort.Respect and civility toward those who may have different views/ideas/beliefs - how can we form a spiritual and intellectual relationship with creation/creator/universe if we cannot form open, civil, and respectful relationships with each other. The courage to question their goals/ideas/beliefs - I'm not saying stop believing, far from it. I've found that my relationship with the creator is stronger because I queation and not because of faith alone. The persistence to overcome hurtles.
The first thing people notice about me
I honestly don't know. The only people to ask would be people who are my friends & family, and they are biased or their first impressions have been muddled overtime by my many good and bad qualities. I think it would probably depend upon the person I am meeting and under what conditions the said meeting is occurring. I don't try to hide who I am, or color someone's initial impression of me... it's too much work to try and keep up the facade or live up to the expectations of others... I have a hard enough time living up to my own expectations. No, it's easier to be myself and let people notice what they notice when they notice it.
The last book I read and enjoyed
- Just finished rereading American Gods by Neil Gaimen.- Just finished listening (audiobook) to Ready Player One... What? I'm a nerd and love distopias. What can I say. - Currently reading The Martian... a new favorite (that's the smart ass engineer in me)- Feeling like I should reread World War Z or the Ringword series afterwards.- Probably going to listen to the audiobooks of the Dresden Files next... we will see how Storm Front does before I commit to the rest of the series
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Family. I am so thankful for my family and how we support each other.
- Friends. They are the catalyst which keeps me engaged with the world.
- Education. Without the opportunities education offers the world would a very dull place.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'm not sure. I've never compared my self-portrait to someone else's view of me. I try not to put to much energy into things I can't control, such as how perceptive someone else is.
Friends Describe me as
Dependable, Generous, Intelligent, Rational
A little more about me
If you have any questions you will just have to ask. I love a good thought provoking conversation and will discuss any topic at length so long as it remains civil. For my own part, I would prefer to date someone with at least a bach degree and no kids, not saying it's a complete deal breaker but if you fall into either of those categories chances are I'm not going to be interested. I know that's limiting and I shouldn't say that on here (not trying to be mean just assuming your time is as valuable as mine), but I have reasons for that criteria (measure of asperations/drive and relative baggage/drama).
