More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am blessed to be able to earn a living using my creative talents, so I?d say the thing I?m most passionate about is personal expression through the arts; specifically words. There?s nothing better than a well-honed story or a magical turn of phrase. Second to this would be the relationships in my life. Experiencing life with those I care about is definitely the blood that beats my heart. Third, a tie between music & travel. Someone once said to me, ?Real life doesn?t come with a soundtrack.? Well, mine does. And though I don?t get to travel nearly as much as I?d like, I?m always ready to pack a bag & lit out to explore the horizon.

I typically spend my leisure time

Currently, I?m training for the Cherry Blossom 10-Mile. It?s my first time running, so I spend at least one day on the weekends preparing. Other than that, my leisure time is generally spent watching movies, attending concerts (Marc Broussard is one of my favorites) or writing. I also like to spend time with my friends, whether that?s one-on-one over a cup of coffee, or during a group activity. I?m regularly referred to as the cruise director among my friends, because I?m always coming up with some activity, like bowling or a spooky night out for Halloween. When I?ve got downtime though, I?m usually reading or combing through Netflix.

The most influential person in my life has been

First and foremost, the right man for me is Christ-centered and solid in his beliefs. Because this looks different on everyone, I won?t assign caveats. Just know this foundation needs to be there. Beyond that, I?m looking for someone who is honest, authentic and loyal. Someone who has a great sense of humor and knows how to make me laugh. Integrity, kindness and compassion are also important, as is a love of family and an open-minded spirit. Basically I?m looking for someone who is more than a plus one; he?s my best friend and my partner in crime.

The first thing people notice about me

They tend to notice how closely I listen. Whether I am old friends with someone, or have only just met them, I try to retain as much of the information they offer before responding. And because I include details of what they?ve just spoken about, they generally seem a little surprised

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I read was ?Pride & Prejudice,? and a more accurate quantification would be that I re-read it. It is one of my favorites, so I return to it every now and again. The story is a classic romance filled with misunderstanding and missed chance. What I like most are the two main characters. Elizabeth is a feisty, intelligent, strong woman, who is unwilling to settle despite her circumstances. While Mr. Darcy is an honorable, wise and devoted man, who cares deeply for those in his life.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Thankful for my family and how we communicate regularly.
  2. Thankful for my friends. I have some of the best, most supportive friends in the world.
  3. Thankful for God, and His numerous blessings in my life.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I?d love for people to be exposed to my humor pretty quickly. Most see me as a pretty serious person, which I can be, but I also try not to take life too seriously. And the best way to do that is to weave in levity whenever possible.

A little more about me

Though I?ve lived in the D.C. area for some time, I am, and always will be, a Southern girl. I don?t believe football exists outside of the SEC, more specifically my Georgia Bulldogs. I like my tea sweet, and the A #1 condiment on my table is Tabasco. I believe that manners and a kind word will always take you far. I still say y?all, and everyone is sweetie pie/honey/darlin? to me? bless their hearts. I wave when people let me into traffic and always say thank you when someone goes to the trouble of holding a door or an elevator. I feel blessed to have grown up the way that I did, and the foundation it has given me.
