The one thing I am passionate about...
My primary goal in life is to be a professor. Right now, I am pursuing a PhD at Northwestern for Music Theory and Cognition. The whole thing is like a puzzle for me, I love finding each of the pieces and fitting them together to understand how music and the mind works. I am also very passionate about cooking. I love to experiment with flavors and ingredients, and see how my concoction turns out! I also enjoy sticking to the book and baking. Cooking is just an activity that makes me so happy.I love outdoor sports, like kayaking, rafting. I'm an experienced caver, and love rock climbing as well!
I typically spend my leisure time
Running, watching films, and dining out at new restaurants. I read a lot, and so I try to get outdoors as much as possible. I really like exploring Chicago and finding restaurants I may not have otherwise seen. I would love to be in situations where I'm meeting new people more, because for me, that's where a lot of fun is.
The most influential person in my life has been
I am looking for someone who is goal-oriented and able to motivate themselves, who is not content to sit back and let others pander to them because it's easy. I need someone who understands my drive, and can engage with me on that level. I love being able to care for someone not because I have to, but because I want to.
The first thing people notice about me
My gigantic laugh... I just can't help how loud it is!
The last book I read and enjoyed
I just finished "The Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. It was my second time reading it, and I enjoyed it so much. The story is this beautiful extended metaphor about a boy, Pi, whose father, a zoo keeper, decides to sell his animals and move to Canada. The family loads up a freight ship with their stock and sets sail. Unfortunately, the ship sinks, and Pi is the only survivor... except the tiger left in his boat. The story chronicles his miraculous survival.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- I am thankful for my supportive family, who is always there for me when I need them.
- I am thankful for the opportunities I've been given in my life.
- I am thankful for my amazing friends, who are my chosen family and who I cherish.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
This sort of depends on the situation- if I'm in a serious situation, I usually wish people could see my fun side. If I'm in a party situation or something extremely social, I wish people could see my serious side. I feel like people only get half sometimes!
