More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I work with children who are disadvantaged and am active, outside of work, in organizations that help promote their talents. It is also a source of enjoyment for me, e.g. getting to see some of them perform at the junior Alvin Ailey camp. Reading, arhouse movies, attending lectures, travelling are all things I love to do.

I typically spend my leisure time

What I most enjoy doing during my leisure time is reading. My favorite genre are the 19th century Russian authors. I love to dance salsa, the less fancy "old school" way. Recently saw a French Canadian film titles "Incendies" that was so powerful, it literally left my daughter and I speechless. Those experiences are what I seek in trying to enjoy all forms of art.

The most influential person in my life has been

Kindess, to know that he cares about this world we inhabit. Intelligence so that we can continuously grow and learn. Honesty because anything less erodes the foundation on which trust and friendships can be built.

The first thing people notice about me

How much fun and irreverant I can be.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Stephen Hawking, "The Grand Design". It was actually a re-read since I first discovered this book years ago. So much to say about it. The idea that the basic unit of matter is energy and we can only deduce the motion of subatomic particles, ie not directly observe it, is a deep philosophical truth. We can say that about so much of life, ie, it's all subject to perception and our mental creation of what occurs around us.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am most thankful for my two children who bring me joy everyday, who heal me. As two young adults who now share some of my interests, I have them as friends that I can completely trust. To see how much they want to make the world a better place , to enter professions where they help others, help our planet, keep our environment thriving, gives me a lot of pride. Not to say we don't fight, they are, after all, my children.
  2. That I have a profession that I love. I look forward to going to work and fulfilling my role as a healthcare worker. In addition, it gives me a lot of intellectual stimulation and I love continuously learning.
  3. To be able to enjoy my pleasures. Reading, arthouse movies, dancing salsa, museums. Remaining slim and physically fit so that my health, both mental and physical, allow more years of exploring all that our wonderful world has to offer.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

How funny I am. I don't easily laugh "at everything" but see humor in many scenarios I come about. I make people laugh with the way I tell stories, even if they are not intended to be comical.

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Hard Working, Intelligent, Passionate
