The one thing I am passionate about...
I enjoy motorcycling quite a bit, especially when I can travel for 2 or more days. The sights, sounds, and smells stimulate my senses and I feel more connected with the world around me. I enjoy animals, but dogs are my favorite while cats are a close second. Nothing like the Welcome Home antics of a happy dog! I'm a tactile oriented person. Be it the feel and touch of loving partner, the playful interaction with a dog, or something as innocuous as the paint and chrome when I've just finished detailing one of the motorcycles, I connect better through touch.
I typically spend my leisure time
Motorcycling is most often my first go-to activity when I can enjoy the ride. I particularly care for things with a history be that an old car, old buildings, bridges, towns, large trees, things that have a story behind them. True old-world craftsmanship when our country often put style into things many would never see as much as they would things everyone would see. From listening to an impromptu jam session to the treat of an unusual meal, my leisure time is best enjoyed when my mind and senses are stimulated. Just be creative and we're halfway there! No droning out on online video games for this guy.
The most influential person in my life has been
Understanding and flexibility. Are you willing to try some things you may not understand, and admit it enjoying when you were sure it wasn't your thing? An open mind is a happy mind.
The first thing people notice about me
With and humor, definitely. Sometimes people are just a hard nut to crack making it even more fun when they can't hold back a laugh.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Not an avid reader of books per se. My interests are too varied and I tend to appreciate nonfiction. I may jump from a Newsweek to a motorcycle rag to expand my knowledge in a broad range.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- A creative mind to provide me with solutions or opportunities others wouldn't recognize or be willing to explore. It adds variety to what otherwise could be mundane. Something as simple as knowing 10 different ways to prepare your favorite meal means you'll enjoy dinner a little more each time you sit at the table.
- Growing up with more sisters than brothers taught me more about woman than most men would normally have the opportunity to learn. Kept me from being "like every other guy". Being different has been rewarding. I could not have predicted the mutual benefits I'd enjoy later in life from the seed of knowledge provided to me as a young kid.
- A deep understanding of all things that surround me minimizes unpleasant surprises so I can concentrate on what matters to me. Surprises are good, if they're good for you! I like to know what's going on around me locally, globally, or right next to me. It's like learning what goes into a gourmet dish rather than just eating it so you can appreciate the flavors.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
When I ask a question, it really IS to learn more about your perspective and not to criticize you.
