More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about nature - protecting it, observing it, making it accessible, creating it in my own back yard, encouraging it's creatures to visit me, and finding time to immerse myself in it. The natural world provides me with inspiration, fills me with awe, and calms my mind.

I typically spend my leisure time

In my leisure time I enjoy gardening, reading, and visiting with friends. In winter I love to be out walking in the snow.

The most influential person in my life has been

I'm looking for a very grounded person, one who is confident in his beliefs, has integrity and high moral standards, and has a kind and giving heart. I'm looking for a friend, a buddy, a companion, with whom I can enjoy life.

The first thing people notice about me

People notice my calmness and empathy and find that it eases their anxiety and helps them through uncomfortable situations. Because I work in health care this has been a valuable gift.

The last book I read and enjoyed

"Flesh and Bone" by Jefferson Bass (Dr. Bill Bass, forensic anthropologist/Jon Jefferson, author). As a "Bones", "CSI", and "NCIS" fan, I love to read about forensic science. The books are based upon cases that Bill Bass has worked on as a forensic expert. He is the founder of "The Body Farm" in Tennessee. (A cardiologist I work with went to school in Tennessee and knew Dr. Bass.) The blend of science and human relationship make these books an enjoyable read for me.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am thankful for my relationship with my grown son, that he comes to me with life's concerns, that he is loving and affectionate toward me and that he likes to just "hang out" with me from time to time.
  2. I am thankful for my family, for the relationships I have with my brothers, for the ability to visit with my aging mother on a regular basis, and the somewhat distant relationships with several cousins and other extended family, and for the friends who are like family.
  3. I am thankful for my health which allows me to be energetic at work, creative when the urge hits me, and to spend time working in my garden, taking walks, going camping occasionally, taking trips and enjoying my pets.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That I can act pretty silly under certain circumstances and really enjoy a good laugh. It does take a little time for me to unleash this part of me, mainly because I want to be sure that I don't offend someone who hasn't gotten to know me.

Friends Describe me as

Creative, Dependable, Good listener, Kind

A little more about me

I love my three cats and one dog. All of my dogs have been Labradors or Labrador mixes. My first was a pure bred I got from a friend, the last two have been pound pups that I acquired from the Idaho Humane Society. My favorite social event is the annual "Spot Walk" which takes place in downtown Boise and benefits the animal shelter. It's so fun to see all of the dogs and their buddies.
