More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Theology, philosophy, music, creative art, and social justice, and love and friendship.

I typically spend my leisure time

Writing--whether that is working on my fantasy/sci-fi novel (yay) or jotting down essay ideas for theological essays or exegesis papers (weird, I know, but it's true). Hanging out with friends with good conversation is a must, spending a relaxing evening at a coffee shop with a good friend, or going to the movies for the latest Marvel installment is also time well-spent. I am also in the market for a road trip buddy (my last one up and moved to Lincoln, NE) and a Rock Band crew. A good vacation at the beach doing absolutely nothing is also great, as is the rare massage or day spa outing.

The most influential person in my life has been

Devotion to God and loved ones in every day life. Someone who enjoys beauty, imagination, creativity, art and/or science. Someone who likes to use their mind in sorting through life. Someone who is curious and looking for adventure in the world. Someone who really enjoys other people and invests in their relationships.

The first thing people notice about me

Brain powers! I combine imagination and intellect and like to bring that into every day life and conversation. I spend a lot of time listening to people (and to the world in general) and thinking deeply and prayerfully about what I encounter there.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Scientific American. Two special editions this year concerned Cosmology and Time. The issue on Time quoted Augustine twice, which made my theology brain happy, and talked about scientists needing philosophers (for once). All around cool stuff happening out there.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The grace and presence of Jesus in my life.
  2. My friends and family who love and support me.
  3. The nerd-intellectual wealth of the church in the communion of saints, especially Tommy Aquinas and Clive (C. S. Lewis).

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I love justice. I don't mean retributive justice, making sure people get what they deserve, but rather distributive justice: making sure people get what they need, or restorative justice: promoting reconciliation between hostile parties.

Friends Describe me as

Genuine, Intelligent, Passionate, Perceptive

A little more about me

Adventure and travel are also really important to me. I want to find someone I can explore the world with, both intellectually and in terms of culture and travel and new experiences. I love to learn new things in general and doing that in the context of a good friendship is the best and most enjoyable way I know how to do that. Onward to life!
