More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

My career, friends, and personal growth. I seem to always take on challenges, to better my self, and strive for higher self-actualization. The benefit is in the process, and not so much the goal, though I tend to be a 'destination' type, rather than a 'journey' type, so this is one area where I've a different perspective.

I typically spend my leisure time

Reading, travelling, walking in cities, working. I just recently relocated to Manhattan from California, where I'd lived for many years. I'm originally from the east coast, and am very happy to be here again. I know I will spend much time in the coming months getting re-acquainted with NYC, seeing many old friends, and meeting new friends.

The most influential person in my life has been

Femininity. Definitely femininity.I've cancelled my membership here as of 11 January 2011.

The first thing people notice about me

I have no idea -- I suppose for each person it would be different, no? Each person and situation brings out something slightly different, so it kind of depends on the chemistry. Over the years, the common themes I have been told have been: calm, intense, passionate, aware, caring, sensitive, compassionate....

The last book I read and enjoyed

I've seen The Alchemist listed here by many women -- I presumed it must be a great book, and I recently finished reading and enjoying it. I've always several other books at any one time on a variety of subjects -- Crisis Economics (economics), People of the Book (fiction), The Road to Serfdom (political / economics), How the Mind Works (neuro-psychology), Crushed (marketing), The Death and Life of American Cities (urban planning) -- these are some of the ones recently finished or in progress. I read quite a bit, though never enough.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My self-awareness.
  2. Having the ability to overcome most obstacles, and taking responsibility for my own successes, failures, well-being.
  3. The health, safety and well-being of loved ones.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I don't wish for them to notice anything other than what they do. What they notice is their choice, and reflects their beliefs, experiences, etc. I suppose it also reflects how I present myself, though I don't wish to control others' perceptions of me. Everything works out the way it's supposed to, right?

Friends Describe me as

Affectionate, Intelligent, Perceptive, Respectful

A little more about me

Due to my career, I can pretty much live anywhere in the world, and I travel quite a bit, though I'd be just as comfortable settling down. Some additional qualities in a partner that are important to me are compassion, empathy, affection, open-mindedness, passion, and a desire to have children and raise a family together. I'm very health-conscious when it comes to food, and lifestyle (Cherry Zero Coke being my vice), am naively and eternally optimistic, a strong communicator, love challenges, am more traditional than not in the gender roles (thus I admire a woman who has that air of femininity), and am very protective of women and children.
