The one thing I am passionate about...
I'm most passionate about being a good mother and a good citizen of Earth-trying to set a good example by living a good life. So I try to do the right thing whenever possible-I recycle, I try to practice kindness, treat everyday as a learning experience--which I suppose all adds up to trying to live the fullest and best life possible. My passion in my work life is trying to ensure that our justice system truly is just-that if the government is going to take someone's liberty from them, the system assures that accused people are treated fairly.
I typically spend my leisure time
Like most adults my age, I feel like I'm perpetually busy, and one of my main goals is to try to maintain balance. When I do have spare time, I like to watch movies, read, and spend time with my kids. Things I like doing but never seem to have time for include going to the beach or on a picnic, miniture golf, bowling, and going to museums or the zoo.
The most influential person in my life has been
Honesty, intellectual curiousity, open mindedness, a good sense of humor...I know, that's not one, but we are all multi-dimensional characters, so it's impossible to narrow it down to one key quality. Sense of humor & an ability to laugh at himself may be the most important.
The first thing people notice about me
I would like to think that it is that I am easy to talk to. Although I definitely have my own opinion on things and have a fairly strong conviction in my personal beliefs, (and enjoy friendly debate over politics or pop culture once I know someone)I am fairly open minded and I genuinely like learning about other people. One of the best compliments I've received in the past year was from someone I spoke with on the phone when he cold-called my office for information, who told me I was one of the kindest people he'd ever talked to. It was a great compliment because I wasn't doing anything extraordinary-I was just being myself.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I don't get to read as much as I'd like; I have a pile of books I've bought because I'm interested in them but haven't gotten around to reading them. Currently, I'm reading Freakonomics, which is an incredibly interesting take on looking at cause and effect. The last book I finished was The Five People You Meet In Heaven, which I thought was going to be corny but was certainly not. I was very moved by it and found it to be really thought provoking. Other favorites: the Twilight series (yes, I will admit it); My list to read includes "Journey Into America," "My Sister's Keeper," "The Dome," and "Alex and Me."
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My education and the fact that I'm employed in today's economy
- My wonderful family
- That I live in the USA and enjoy the freedoms that come with that...
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Maybe my sense of humor. I can be fairly outgoing but in new situations I sometimes tend to hang back, and can be quiet around new people. My sense of humor is sometimes on the ironic side, and I think sometimes people don't get it until they know me a little better.

A little more about me
I'm intellectual but not brainy; I'd really like to meet someone who is equally comfortable talking about the economy or news of the day as he is talking about movies, sports, or pop culture, and someone who wants to share their interests and cares about mine, too. You don't need to be an expert-just to be interested in learning about the world around you.
