The one thing I am passionate about...
I'm passionate about self-improvement (the business buzzwords are "building human capital"). I am pursuing an MBA and read as much as I can, and listen to audiobooks. I'm tentatively working towards starting my own company in the (hopefully) not too distant future. Also trying to improve my physical fitness; I've finished a few half-marathons. Even more important is my role as a father. Jackie Kennedy said "If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do matters very much." Amen, sister. I love being in the Navy and plan to do it as long as I can.
I typically spend my leisure time
I don't know if running can be considered 'leisure' but I do that a few times a week. I'd love to find a decent game of pickup basketball, but so far no such luck. I do tend to stay home more than go out; I like to read and watch movies, the usual. I'm getting a little more handy around the home and have some modestly ambitious improvement projects, if I find the time. I really like seeing live performances of music and theater, and wish there was more of that kind of thing around the Tri-Cities. Would love to get out to more American's hockey games.
The most influential person in my life has been
Dumb question. It's the whole package, baby.
The first thing people notice about me
Probably that I'm quiet. I like to let others take the lead in conversation most often, unless I get into my teaching mode. I usually won't do that unless I'm invited to do so, though. :)
The last book I read and enjoyed
I was going to put something impressive-sounding here, like Ulysses (never did make it through), but I can't lie, it was a Batman comic book. I'm a geek that way. I also read lots of "necessary" stuff for work and school, so I don't get to read for pleasure much anymore. Honestly, though, I did enjoy my Strategy textbook last semester. Malcolm Gladwell is a favorite author. If you haven't read "Blink" I recommend it!
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My wonderful kids.
- Being alive in this beautiful world, and...
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
It'd be great if people could tell at a glance if we were loyal, sensitive, funny, and intelligent, but I suppose all that takes time.
Friends Describe me as
Ambitious, Genuine, Intelligent, Rational
A little more about me
I'm really hoping to meet someone thoughtful and intelligent, and attractive, who understands how important children are to their parents. Mine live in Seattle, and I travel there most weekends to be with them. With my kids, day job, night school, and second career as a Navy Reservist, my life is busy. I don't like bars or clubs much. What I would like is spending time with you, and maybe sometimes a few friends, doing something we both enjoy. I'm an agnostic bordering on atheist. I know this is a big deal for some people, so fair warning. If religions is very important to you, we might not be the best match.
