The one thing I am passionate about...
I'm a writer and am passionate about what I do. I recently finished graduate school at Oxford, and am working at an educational nonprofit, doing work that is interesting and meaningful to me. I have a clear sense of what?s important to me, and why, and having spent time being a school teacher, and then in the corporate, and now in the nonprofit world. Learning and education are important things to me, and I hope that you also value knowledge and growth in your life. Life to me is learning and gaining new experiences in all of its different forms.
I typically spend my leisure time
Being out and about doing something fun with friends; or at the coffee shop, reading and writing; or at the gym; or who knows what else
The most influential person in my life has been
I hope to meet someone who is kind, funny, and fun to be around. Maturity is important ? meaning someone who is comfortable at being a good communicator and can be honest with herself and with others.
The first thing people notice about me
My sense of humor. Or perhaps my glasses. I also hear that I have a very expressive face -- is that a good thing?
The last book I read and enjoyed
On Beauty, by Zadie Smith. A very interesting novel. Fascinating characters, complicated interpersonal relationships, and really well-written!
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Friends and family
- My education
- Being able to do what I enjoy
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Different people tend to bring out different parts of my personality.People always wonder what "am I?" (such an odd question!). I'm Hawaiian.I like to do spontaneous, adventurous, and/or outdoorsy things; cultural experiences are also high on my list of things I'm ready to do at any time.
Friends Describe me as
Ambitious, Funny, Good listener, Intelligent
A little more about me
I believe that you get out of life what you are willing to put into it. I like to surround myself with creative and interesting friends, engaging conversations, and thought-provoking books. I also used to teach a college course on The Simpsons and Philosophy. It was the best job ever. Seeking out cultural experiences is fun and important -- but most of the time, it's more a matter of who I'm with that's more important than where I am.I lived in England for the past year, before moving back to California (CA>UK). Yeah, California's a pretty awesome place to be.
