The one thing I am passionate about...
I can't live without music or my faith. I like to go to movies and watch movies at home; but, I don't turn on the TV indiscriminitely. I love to travel and learn about other cultures. I like to talk to people about what interests them and can join in other peoples passions if it is sports, art, history, politics, books or whatever. I like to know what others passions, or thoughts on the world because that makes things more interesting.
I typically spend my leisure time
Some of my leisure time is spent taking in my kids activities; observing their reactions to new experiences keeps me young. I also enjoy going for a walk, hike or bike ride or hitting the gym. I'm new to Virginia so I am trying to hit some of the rich historical sites in the area. I enjoy catching up with friends over dinner. I also have two to three books I'm reading, as well. I also love to bake or try new healthy recipe's (okay, some not so healthy ones too)when I'm not under pressure to meet a schedule.
The most influential person in my life has been
I don't know??? Is that bad? I can connect with people who are very diverse. I have friends who are wacky, intellectual -- some might even say nerdy. I value each one of them. But, I THINK I'm looking for someone who is fun, optimistic and wants to make the most of each and everyday.
The first thing people notice about me
People notice my sense of humor and overall joyful attitude. I have an optimistic and grateful outlook on life that is noticeable to not only close friends, but also to the random mix of people I may encounter during the course of everyday transactions. People tend to miss me when I?m not around since I tend to lighten the mood. It?s good to be missed, but I wish I had someone special in my life with whom I could connect and spoil. :)
The last book I read and enjoyed
Two books that I have really enjoyed this year were Nothing to Envy, by Barbara Demick and the Dave Barry/Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Starcatcher, series of children's stories that are a take-off from the Peter Pan story. I enjoyed Nothing to Envy because Demick truly captures the ordinary lives of North Korean citizens in a way that is vivid and poignant, yet also offers insight into North Korean humor. The Starcatcher series is action packed and grabbed the attention and imagination of my kids. Though it is a secular series, it provides many opportunities to innocuously teach some life lessons to my three girls.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- I am thankful that the God of the universe loves me and shows his tender loving care for me in great and small ways.
- I am thankful for my healthy, happy kids and the joy they bring to everyday life.
- This one is tough. I really love my wonderful, supportive family; but, am also grateful for the ability and opportunity to work at something that is challenging and fun.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I wish people would realize I'm just an ordinary girl. I often am told that I'm so smart, beautiful and have things together, but the truth is I'm just a regular girl that's been blessed with extraordinary favor and opportunity.
