The one thing I am passionate about...
For a passionate person, this is a difficult question...performing has always been on the front burner for me. I love music, all kinds, but specifically indie folk rock with great vocal harmonies :) My family and friends. My own self-growth, and keeping aware that my actions are alligned with my values and morals. Fine dining, wine and craft beers. My dog Gracie. Animals in general. Laughing. Writing. Learning new things, especially arts and crafts. Travel. Volunteering.
I typically spend my leisure time
I adore sitting at an outdoor cafe, or in a neighborhood coffee shop with my journal and a bunch of books. I love writing, creatively and introspectively. Really helps keep me balanced. I enjoy getting a good workout in a few times a week, would like it to be more, but trying to be honest here :) I see/attend/perform live music a few evenings a week as well. As I used to be a stage actress, I see a lot of my friends in their plays. And I do have guilty pleasures of snuggling on the couch with my dog while watching television after a long day. I also volunteer a few times a month.
The most influential person in my life has been
Someone who is self aware. Someone who truly loves and respects themselves, so that they are able to reciprocate those feelings in an intimate relationship. Someone who has a great sense of curiousity about themselves, their environment and their community. And if you can find the humor in the every day, then that makes for a happy dynamic.
The first thing people notice about me
My hearty laugh, warm smile, and upbeat nature. I am always ready to make the best of every situation. I'm pretty goofy and am more than willing to embarrass myself for a laugh :) Though I typically don't have to try too hard to achieve that...sigh.
The last book I read and enjoyed
To Kill a Mockingbird. It's one of those classics that I somehow have never read. What a great novel, I am so glad that I found it at a sidewalk sale in my neighborhood :) Now I have a hunger for more classics that somehow have eluded me, and to revisit ones that I read in high school, but couldn't appreciate at the time.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- This is going to sound redundant, but I am most thankful for my gratitude. Because when first asked this question, I was overwhelmed with where to even begin. And I didn't always feel this way, so to be at a point in my life where I am truly thankful for even the smallest things, is a really nice place to be :)
- All the eclectic and dear, generous friends I have. I feel very lucky to have inspiring, supportive friends who are also incredibly fun to be around. People with whom I feel I can truly be myself.
- My family. I have a family full of beautiful ladies who have provided me with much wisdom, friendship and strength.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
That I have a great ability to be calm, quiet and meditative. Since I am outgoing and really enjoy getting to know someone new, sometimes my enthusiasm might lead you to believe otherwise.
