The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about my 4 grown children, my 3 grandsons, and my friendships. Most of my best friends live elsewhere, so I love to travel and visit them! I am passionate about staying healthy and fit - without being too fanatical about it. Probably my biggest passion is the gospel, growing in grace and love for Jesus Christ.
I typically spend my leisure time
Jazzercise or long walks. This is to keep me in shape for hiking, which I love. I spend a lot of time on my laptop, keeping up with friends and family on social media. I spend regular time with my grandsons who live in town.
The most influential person in my life has been
someone who is comfortable with who they are, honesty and integrity, sense of humor, kindness, orientation towardothers....I guess that's more than one! A man who is guided and shaped by the truth of the gospel, not in a rule-following way, but one who has encountered the unconditional love of Christ and is seeking to let that grace transform him.
The first thing people notice about me
probably my sense of humor. People usually comment on how "refreshing" I am.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I have recently been reading books centered around Jewish people and culture, and the events leading up to the Holocaust. The Nightingale, All the Light We Cannot See, The Chosen, The Promise, and, most recently, Night, by Elie Wiesel. His nobel peace prize winning memoir of time in concentration camps. Leading a book club study of that soon.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- That Jesus Christ has saved me by dying for my sins, and that He invites me into relationship with God. The gospel is the most important thing in my life - such amazing grace extended to one like me, and to the whole world.
- My 4 wonderful children are a great source of love and the good kind of pride. They are all grown and it is exciting to be involved as a participant and as an observer in their interesting lives.
- Significant friendships that are supportive and life-giving
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
That I really like to connect with people on significant levels, but can appear aloof at first. Maybe I'm a little shy, maybe it's a little insecurity, maybe it is because I only hear with one ear : (
Friends Describe me as
Caring, Dependable, Genuine, Loyal
A little more about me
"Divorced" is not a category I ever intended to be in. I was married for 35 years to a man I intended to keep my promises to. Being put in someone's "discard pile" is a bewildering place to find myself in. But, it has increased my compassion for others, and given me the desire to really know people's stories before making snap assumptions.
