More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Google Nigel Kennedy playing the Doctor Who theme on violin. This will be me. No, really, it doesn't matter that I've never played an instrument in my life. I own a violin anyway.

I typically spend my leisure time

Well, hanging with my kids is a no-brainer. Video taping my dog jumping the 10 feet from couch to couch like she's on crack? Yeah, that's fun, but sometimes I do like to actually read and just drink an inhuman amount of coffee...

The most influential person in my life has been

I think my best friend summed it up quite easily...if he can make watching paint dry fun...then it 's a go. This is not to say I don't look at standards such as common ethical background, intelligence, etc. But the reality is, life is short. Yes, I want a partner I can rely on but more than anything I want to enjoy life to its fullest.

The first thing people notice about me

I had to think about this one. I mean, most people don't just tell you what they notice. I think it's my ability to make people feel as if we have a connection. When a person talks to me - I pay attention. Direct eye contact is important. A close friend once told me that I have this gift of making anyone feel like, at that moment they are having a conversation with me, they are the most important person in the universe.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I just read a book called "the room". The point of view was from a 5 year old boy, who had only lived in a room with his mother, in captivity his whole life. The story itself was a bit sad, and the writing in areas lacked some depth, but what this author did with language was brilliant. The words, the way a small, isolated child would piece things together, it was like she created an entirely different language. It was beautiful.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am thankful that my children haven't driven me insane.
  2. I am thankful for the invention of coffee.
  3. I am thankful that Russell Davies brought Doctor Who back to life.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Because I'm a bit introverted, particularly in large groups, where I'm more likely to be observant at first, people mistake that for aloofness or something less positive. The truth is, I do better one on one, and with some people it takes me longer to warm up than to others. My friends and family know certain truths - like the fact that there are times where I just don't shut up :)
