More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I love to volunteer. I am a big sister in big brothers/big sisters. I mentor at an elementary school, wash dishes at the Rescue Mission, make dinners at an emergency shelter and visit with the residents. Visit at the senior center, and pack food with my son and his friends at the food bank. I also love a quiet bike ride (average 20 miles) or a moderate hike - being qiuet and outdoors. I interact with many people in my job, so home and close family/loved ones and being able to do something to help anyone is a blessing to me. And to have someone special to care about, share life, God, hopes and fears, to encourage and love.

I typically spend my leisure time

I like to be home, make a good dinner. Go for a walk or ride if nice, or to the gym once in a while. Sometimes just stay in and watch a movie or play a board game. Watch football in the winter. I love to snuggle and wish I had a fireplace. I love to sit outside by a fire in the summer and just kick back. I like to spend time one on one with friends as opposed to large groups. I am somewhat shy.

The most influential person in my life has been

I love positive people. Negativity is exhausting.

The first thing people notice about me

Is 'smile' considered appeareance? :) If that doesn't count, maybe they would notice that I'm unconsciously nice. My son told me that once and I asked him to explain. He said I smile at everyone, cashiers, drive up attendants, ticket takers, someone I walk past on the street. I will give a stranger a few dollars or buy them a sandwich, hug someone who looks like they are about to cry, or hand them a tissue without saying a word. Never drama, just a hug, a smile, a sandwich. It's who I am.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Family: My adoptive parents. That they wanted me and loved me so much. That I always felt wanted and that I was raised in a Christian family. My brothers, my 17 year old son. My friends.
  2. God: My salvation and amazing relationship with God. Grace. Forgiveness. I love the LORD with all of my heart. Serving in church and small groups are some of favorite things for me to do.
  3. Freedom: Being able to worship, work, live, read, research and even speak without much fear. I am grateful for the life I've had and have. I am intelligent (thank you Lord) and pretty discerning. I credit God for giving me a good head on my shoulders, that I don't make too many mistakes and when I do, I catch on quickly. I'm able to do well in business and get along with people. I do get sad/quiet at times. I've lost so many people who I loved. Downside of a big family. But namely both of my parents, and I appreicate someone who can understand and would just hold me on sad days. They pass quickly.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That I'm actually very shy.
