More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Conversation. Nothing stimulates me more than great conversation and witty banter. It can be anything from philosophy to egg decorating, but if the conversation is fun and easy and challenging all at once...what's better than that? Maybe a bottle of wine thrown in? Yes. That's a tad better.

I typically spend my leisure time

Writing. Spending time with friends. Home improvement. Catching up on films I've been wanted to see.

The most influential person in my life has been

Partnership. A friend who understands that physical attraction is important, but not the cement of a solid relationship. We should support one another, and be there whenever the other one needs it. I need to trust that, should we have children, she would be a good mother, and understand that we are partners in creating the next level of life in this world.

The first thing people notice about me

My wit. I tend to make light of everything, and I use humor to do so. I can have a sharp tongue when I'm in rare form. I've acquired a more tactful filter over the years, but I can still let a bruising comment slip here and there. Although, my sister's mother (I have a complicated family tree) always commented that I had a calming affect on the house while I was staying with them. She's got a slight case of dementia, though, so...

The last book I read and enjoyed

"I, Lucifer" God makes a deal with the devil to lease a mortal life, with an option to own. An easy read with plenty of great dialogue. It's Lucifer's take on creation and the garden of Eden and God and whatnot. The snarky wit of the devil was enough to get me through the book. The plot isn't the strongest, but I enjoyed it for what it was, and isn't enjoying it the point?

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My Family. Through loss, my family has become much closer, and I am thankful for the realization that I should not waste any more time away from them.
  2. My life. I have had quite a journey, so far, and every experience, pleasant and painful, has helped me appreciate things so much more than I ever have. All the love and hurt and joy and struggle have all been worth it. Now I am on the newest stage in my life, and I wonder where it will take me.
  3. My mind. Without the unique makeup of this mixed-up grey matter in my skull, I would not be capable of how I see the world. If I were an ignorant soul, just how much would I be missing? How much am I missing right now? There is so much to life, and I would never trade who I am to be anyone else. I like my imperfections. I appreciate my bitter tongue and my analytic nature. I like being, "handy" and capable of almost anything. I am still discovering myself, but it's been worth every mile so far.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

That I'm always right? Joking! My fierce sense of loyalty and honest concern for people. I have a very strong leadership role at work, and I always look out for my team. I do the same for friends and family. It's really not obvious until a situation calls for it, but if I am friends with someone, I will always have their back and best interests in mind. My sense of humor usually makes me come off as aloof, but nothing could be farther from the truth.

A little more about me

I used to be an actor. A stage actor with no aspirations for film or celebrity status.I lived in New York for 6 years and struggled to make ends meet. I finally got ahead at a job I wasn't prepared to keep and now I live comfortably. The company believes I am a career man, but I have plans to go back to school. It's a pretty big leap for me, after all this time, but I have dreams of being a college professor. I used to teach acting classes to kids, and it was the most rewarding job I have ever had.
