More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

sharing with friends, gardening, cooking, antiques, silver, movies, traveling, the world condition, animals and nature

I typically spend my leisure time

Gardening in just about all forms is relaxing. Walking through the countryside is always pleasant especially being able to see the animals. Visiting antique malls is interesting, especially looking for silver. There are so many fun things to do I can't list them all or make choices here. I love good movies. I enjoy creating foral arrangements.

The most influential person in my life has been

There are several qualities that are most important to me. Integrity and kindness, patience, humor, a generous spirit, and intelligence are important, but above all is faith. Without faith we are like lost sheep.

The first thing people notice about me

I am engaging, warm, and friendly, and love to draw people out, sharing laughter. It is wonderful to see the faical expressions change to happiness. I guess the correct word would be compassion.

The last book I read and enjoyed

After a difficult year long search I found a copy of Three Camels to Smyrna, by D. Wynn. It was recommended by a man who taught courses on oriental rugs. This book is the history of the oriental rug business from the early 1900's to about 1986. It is fascinating based on company records of the largest and most powerful rug company. I am learning about oriental rugs. It is complex and a magnifiscent art form. I am also reading a multi volume set of the ((un)Civil War by noted historian, Shelby Foote, who includes interesting details and little tidbits which should be in all text books to make them interesting for students. I adore books.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Happiness through my faith in God
  2. Good health
  3. the blessings of being an American

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

It seems that people often mistake kindess and generosity for an easy mark. I am not an easy mark. Never mistake my kindness for weakness my good nature for gullibility or my smile for ignorance!

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Intelligent, Perceptive, Thoughtful
