More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I'm passionate about animals-I will be joining the Wildlife Rescue center in Marin in January when their new volunteer training sessions open up. I've recently been trying new things- one of which is stained glass making. I would love to find someone who would love to learn dancing with me (salsa, tango, etc). Hiking/getting outdoors is relaxing for me, and hot chocolate is loved whether summer or winter. Some items on my bucket list are: (1) Skydiving, (2) Learning how to SCUBA dive, and (3) Living abroad. Others, too, but not enough characters remaining to list them all :-)

The most influential person in my life has been

One of the most romantic stories I've heard is that on a first date, my friend and her date went to get milkshakes. When the milkshakes arrived, they both opened the straws, and reached for each other's straw wrappers, and ended up with the other's wrapper. I think it's something small like that that I'm looking for-simply taking care of each other. I'm looking for someone who loves to laugh and who will simply be a dork with me. I'm not afraid to dance for no reason at home; my hope is that you will laugh and dance with me.

The first thing people notice about me

People normally see me as very confident and outgoing. At the beginning of my freshman year in college, I knocked on all of the doors in the freshman dorms to get to people that I may not have otherwise met, and ended up meeting some incredible people. One of my good friends in high school I met by noticing that they were eating alone one day, so instead of sitting at my usual table, I sat next to them. Ironically, I'm actually quite shy. :-)

The last book I read and enjoyed

I loved Ender's Game. I know I was late to the punch in reading it, but I thought that the book's perspective was unique and invigorating. I loved the intellectualism of Ender, and I think the book's insights and subtleties were the best part, not to mention the unexpected twist...

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My dog, Xia-- she was brought into the shelter by someone who had almost hit her with her car. I wasn't even planning on adopting-I was just there to spend some time with the dogs, but when I came over to say hi to her, she snuggled up next to me and gave me a look like, "Will you take care of me?" She has been there through the ups and downs of my life, and whenever I need her, she is right there for me, snuggling me and showing me how much she loves me. She is amazing.
  2. The fact that I can make a difference: I think the moment that has had the biggest impact on me since moving to the city was when I spent an afternoon teaching kids in the foster care system about rent/credit cards/car loans/financials. The kids in the class were 17-about to turn 18 and be released from the system. I feel thankful that I could help, and I want to do more of that. That's why I've joined Junior League.
  3. Learning Environments: I was lucky enough to go to an amazing high school/college that fostered my curiosity and surrounded me with amazing people.
