More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Family first. Huge sports fan but that's far from my only interest--extremely passionate about music, with very broad musical taste--as in Gershwin to Biggie and Metallica broad. Love to read, history mostly, but Jane Austen, Dean Koontz, John Irving, and others too.

I typically spend my leisure time

Reading a good history book. Watching a great game. Sitting around a table with friends and laughing away the stresses of the day. I can always find things to do alone, but the things that can be shared are those that are the most precious.

The most influential person in my life has been

Passion. Whether you're passionate about Victorian history, music, gardening, pottery, sports, teaching, Romantic poetry, it doesn't matter. But there has to be something that gets your hands drawing pictures in the air, your eyes flashing, your face lighting up when you talk about it. Real passion for something is instantaneously attractive.

The first thing people notice about me

Probably my sense of humor. I love to laugh, and I love to make other people laugh, and it helps find fun in anything and everything I do. I laugh at everything around me, including myself probably more than anything else. Laughter is good for the soul.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Bryan Burrough's "Public Enemies", about the crime wave of 1933-34 and how it gave birth to the modern FBI. It was fascinating and pulled no punches. Part of the fun of reading history is learning the REAL story, not the sound bites or the gloss-over you learn in high school or college, and the facts about Dillinger, Hoover, and the rest are very different from what we think we know.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My son. He reminds me of what is truly important.
  2. My close friends. They are the most loyal people I've ever met.
  3. My job. I love the people I work with and the people I work for.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

It's easy to assume because I laugh so much that I don't take things seriously, when in fact the things that really matter, the people I care about and the job, are extremely important to me. I'm devoted to my family, my job, and my friends, and sometimes I wish that was more apparent at first glance.

Friends Describe me as

Caring, Funny, Intelligent, Perceptive

A little more about me

Although I am totally comfortable alone, everything is better when it's shared. Whether it's dinner out, cooking in, a concert, a new CD, or dishes or laundry, anything can be enjoyable when the people involved make it fun. I have a life that I like. I would love to share it with someone.
