The one thing I am passionate about...
I'm passionate about people, current events, and learning. I love it when all these areas are combined. When I can help people learn--especially in ways that are beneficial to the here and now--I am absolutely ecstatic.
I typically spend my leisure time
I enjoy writing. I am slowing working on a book, but I also enjoy writing about my daily experiences. Another thing I enjoy doing with my free time is spending time with the young people from my church. I think mentorship is important for young people, and I try to be there for those in my community.
The most influential person in my life has been
I'm looking for someone who loves Jesus more than anything and who is passionate about her faith. I'm a die-hard "born again" Christian, and am looking for someone who knows what that means and isn't afraid to be identified as such. At the same time, I am looking for someone who is fun-loving and enjoys her faith--not someone who is bound by "religiousness."
The first thing people notice about me
Usually people notice my humor, or the fact that I tell stories. Usually these two things go hand in hand. I tend to remember random stories that hit me as funny, and I like sharing them with others. Most people I meet find this out pretty quickly...
The last book I read and enjoyed
The last book I read was Bossypants, by Tina Fey. I thoroughly enjoy Tina's humor. Even though I disagree with her social stances in many cases, I do enjoy her wit and perspective.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My job -- I love my current line of work, and enjoy getting to be involved in the education/betterment of young people.
- My church -- The people that make up my church aren't perfect, but they're my second family. I live for the days we get to fellowship together.
- My friends -- Having a close group of friends is one of my favorite aspects of life. I'm energized by the people I hang out with, and really enjoy getting past surface conversations in order to know them better. I like that my group of friends is willing to do that.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Often people see me as being "funny," but they don't realize that I'm really interested in deeper topics of conversation. I enjoy humor as much as the next guy, but I get bored with it. I like conversation to count--and I'd rather not walk away from meeting someone going "well, that was frivolous." What really interests me is meeting people who think deeply about issues of faith, politics, and current events.

A little more about me
So if you've read this far, you know that I'm opinionated. However, I'm also reserved to begin with. I don't tend to be outgoing until I know someone at least a little. That being said, I'm excited about meeting new people here!
