More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about my faith, my family, friendships, music, and education.

I typically spend my leisure time

I take voice lessons and sing, practice yoga, cook, and catch up with friends when I have time off. I like trying new places to eat, and exploring NYC on foot. I also like to read, and I have a weakness for cookbooks and fashion magazines.

The most influential person in my life has been

Because my faith is so foundational to who I am, the number one quality I look for is a strong relationship with God. After that, a good sense of humor accompanied by wit is very attractive! Mostly, I am looking for a partner in life. Having someone with whom I can laugh, bless others, create memories, and pray through the ups and downs of life is one of the most incredible things life has to offer. I respect marriage. I understand that it is both joyful and challenging. I hope to be lucky enough to experience it!

The first thing people notice about me

I have heard more than one person tell me that I am gracious, patient, and "smiley", both at work and in social situations. I think most people notice that I am a good listener. I like to offer support, validation, and encouragement through listening.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I just finished "A Moveable Feast" by Ernest Hemingway, and before that I read "The Paris Wife", which is about Ernest Hemingway's first wife, Hadley, and the years they spent in Paris at the beginning of his writing career. I love historical fiction/non-fiction, because you get to understand history through the experiences of real people. I also read The Millenium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo), as well as The Hunger Games trilogy, and I loved being immersed in an exhilarating narrative. The mystery and intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat. It also made the subway ride to work seem much faster!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am most thankful for my relationship with God.
  2. I am full of gratitude for my family.
  3. I have wonderful friends all over the country, and I am very grateful for them.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I am uncomfortable talking about myself! As a result, I am a little cautious about how much I reveal at first. It's not that I don't want to share! I just might need a little help being drawn out.

A little more about me

I sing opera, teach voice and conduct choirs. Music is one of the most important things in my life. It is not my occupation at this time, but I hope that it will be in the future. There are few things in life that move me more than music. Just try listening to the last movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. How is it possible to not be moved by it! Music feeds my soul, and I wouldn't want to live without it.
