More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Passionate is such a strong word! I'm not sure it really describes me. But I love my family more than anything in the world. Most days I'd rather be hanging out with my kids or nieces and nephews than most other people I know. I love classical music, Major League Baseball and college football. Those are three things I definately make time to enjoy. I am passionate about finding the right guy to share all that with.

I typically spend my leisure time

Depends on the day. I love to read, love to hang around the house and watch movies, but I also love going to baseball games, or going to my favorite bar and watching my Buckeyes (even this terrible season!). I play the viola in a community orchestra and wish I had more spare time to play. I'm also no stranger to scooping up a couple nephews and spending the afternoon beating them in Skeeball at Chuck E Cheese.

The most influential person in my life has been

I think the most important quality I'm looking for is a sense of humor. My kids and I have similar senses of humor, we are always joking and laughing about something. It's important to me to find someone who can keep us laughing by being ridiculous, quoting movies, or laughing every time our favorite commercial comes on. Oh....and honesty is important too.

The first thing people notice about me

I'd guess probably sense of humor again. Don't get me wrong, I'm serious when needed and appropriate. But I love to laugh. Part of my job is to keep my staff's spirits up, boost morale, so I'm usually pretty quick with something witty to say. I can poke fun at myself, or a situation. I like to see people walking around with smiles on their faces, and knowing I played a part in that.

The last book I read and enjoyed

My favorite book is The Cider House Rules. I've read it a dozen times, and every time I hope it ends differently. I always want Homer to get away and not get sucked back into the orphanage. It's such a great story about fate and destiny, it makes me wonder how much control we really have over our own lives.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am most thankful for my children. They are the reason I do everything I do. They keep me grounded, they keep me focused, and they keep me laughing.
  2. I am thankful for my family. My family moved around a lot when we were kids, so I was never really close with aunts & uncles or cousins. I am so happy my brother & sister both live here so our kids can grow up together. Nothing makes me happier than a houseful of kids running around, laughing, playing together. It's stressful, irritating and exhausting, but complete joy.
  3. It sounds cliche, but I am thankful for my job. Being a restaurant manager has it's ups and downs, but I have a good job that allows me to support my kids and do some of the things I like to do. Not a bad little life.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I'm really shy. My job requires that I talk to guests, staff, vendors...It's the hardest thing in the world for me! People have said they were intimidated by me because I was so quiet when they first met me. I can't think of anything more outrageous than to be intimidated by me! I'm so shy and awkward sometimes it's painful even to me!

A little more about me

You need to know I have 1 dog and 4 cats. However, I firmly assert I am not a crazy cat lady and I have implemented a strong "one in/one out" policy for any future pets. We are at pet capacity. I have an excellent reason explaining how I ended up with 4 cats. I'm more than happy to explain, just ask.
