More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I love sports - watching and playing, reading, good conversation, traveling, learning, humor, my friends, my family, the mountains, the canyons, the beach.

I typically spend my leisure time

Honestly, I love sports -- playing and watching, the second being my guilty pleasure. However, it's amazing how little I retain after a game.... I work out of my home, so I like spending free time with people. And then I live in the city so like the usual urban things, museums, restaurants, theater, dance, etc... I really love the outdoors, and would do more outdoorsy things if they were easier to access. I hike, snowboard, cycle (very slowly!), rake leaves -- I love that - etc etc.

The most influential person in my life has been

Kindness is the main thing I would like to find in someone, kindness then generosity, then the ability to tell a good -- and hopefully funny -- story.

The first thing people notice about me

It depends on the situation, for instance - if I am out walking my dog and we run into a bunch of his enemies people will notice that I am a bad disciplinarian. But if we are in a discussion about health care policy, they may notice I am very outspoken and passionate. If I am awake and well into my day, people may notice that I have good energy and am alive in my life. But that would never be the case if they saw me before I had coffee....

The last book I read and enjoyed

A really great book I read recently is Peter Carey's His Illegal Self, which took a totally improbable story and made it incredibly real. My give-away book (the one I order in bulk for others to read) is "Born to Run," which is a fun and passionate and meandering work.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The people in my life, from my family to my friends from all parts of my life
  2. The nature in my life, from the mighty Hudson two blocks down to my not so mighty (but thinks he is) Yorkshire Terrier.
  3. My health

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I am very compassionate and empathic, but I don't think these qualities are obvious to others.

Friends Describe me as

Generous, Intelligent, Outgoing, Physically Fit

A little more about me

I have liberal politics, love cities, loathe car culture (but like to drive), am a sports fan during the playoff season, worship the sun but also welcome the long nights of winter, can't drink a lot but enjoy good wines, beers and tequilas, being near to great works of art, architecture, and antiquities still thrills me, I am not particularly domestic but can laze around with the best of them. I hope you are some of these things, particularly the lazy part. It is hard in this overachieving metropolitan area to find someone who likes to do nothing every once in awhile. And, of course, I hope you are kind.... Lazy and kind!

I am
Somewhat Liberal
