The one thing I am passionate about...
I care deeply about the world we live in~ our place in it, our responsibilities to it and to all who live on it. I love being creative, growing gardens and making things. I want to live more lightly on the earth and support sustainable lifestyles. I am politically active, as I see that as a means to seeking equality and world-betterment. At the same time, my Buddhist philosophy guides me in seeking self-betterment, in recognition that each action I take will effect everything around me. Close relationships with my friends, my son, and my animals give me joy.
I typically spend my leisure time
I love to read, garden, do crafts, or watch a good movie. Hiking along a beautiful trail and botanizing along the way... Fishing ~ even when I can't catch anything! And I want to learn how to tie flies :-) While I don't get the opportunity very often, I love being on the water, whether kayaking, canoeing, or drifting. Quiet time spent with family or friends, enjoying a home-cooked meal, talking in front of a fire, singing along with friends who play instruments, or playing games.
The first thing people notice about me
I'll like to hear from you what it is you notice, because I haven't given this question much thought before.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I'll have to admit it was a young adult book written by Michael Scott, "The Alchemist: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel". I had checked this out for my son and one night started reading it and couldn't put it down. Enjoyable, and enough to make me want to read the next in the series just for fun.The book prior to that was "The Dirty Life: On Farming, Food, and Love", by Kristin Kimball. I loved this book on all levels, from the message on sustainability to finding your path and following it.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- I am so grateful to have my son, to be able to share in his life and accomplishments, and to see him grow into an incredible human being.
- I am so grateful to have some very dear and close friends ~ friendships that are soulful and lifelong.
- I am so grateful to be living here in Oregon, surrounded by beauty and open spaces.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I probably seem serious and deliberate, which I am at times. But as I get to know people I can show my silly and more vulnerable sides as well.
