More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I'm passionate about writing, which incidentally, is also an art. Writing is therapeutic and whole heartedly engaging when imagination is depicted with precision and fluidity.

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy drawing or creating things with my hands, in addition traveling and cooking elaborate brunches for friends. :)

The most influential person in my life has been

I'm an avid supporter of balance. Using each other's differences to help support the relationship is important. Where one is weak the other is strong and vice versa; this type of balance is key in getting through the good times and bad.

The first thing people notice about me

People have mentioned that they notice my genuine and warm personality. I'm a conversationalist by nature and so there are rarely any topics that are taboo. I'm interested in what people have to say and what ideas they have. I believe people sense that and respond accordingly. I'm excited by the exchange of ideas. What can I say? :)

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I read and enjoyed was The Hip Hop Wars by Dr. Tricia Rose. What I liked most was Dr. Rose's way of breaking down not only the start of Hip-Hop but how it morphed from being something culturally expressive to a profitable product for white conglomerates. With that she, almost poetically, expresses how such heavily funded, negatively promulgated messages affects the African-American community as a whole. Hence, the word "war" as listed in the title. Fantastic book!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I'm thankful for my resiliency.
  2. I'm thankful for my family.
  3. I'm thankful for like-minded friends I've learned from throughout my life journey.

Friends Describe me as

A little more about me

I love books. I'm a feminist but I don't hate men. I'm witty and sarcastic but mean is beyond me. I'm pretty direct and can temper that with emotional compassion. I believe that we are all connected and have a responsibility to pay opportunity and blessings forward. I like to laugh and I'm comfy not being married until I'm settled in my career. I remain open to new cultures when I travel. I secretly love all things Bob Marley and Sonia Sanchez. That is all :)
