More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am most passionate about reading and classic literature, being successful in the world of academia, spreading knowledge, and having fun, lovely relationships with the most meaningful people in my life. Music, art, and laughter are also important to me. Another huge passion of mine is progressive activisim, especially to help groups of people who are oppressed based on their genders and/or sexual orientations.

I typically spend my leisure time

The things I am most passionate about definitely trasfer to my leisure time. In my spare moments I most enjoy reading and learning, taking in art (everything from live music to a museum to a new film), and spending time with the people I love.

The most influential person in my life has been

This might seem redundat, but I think the most important quality for both people in a relationship to have is mutual respect for each others' unique qualities. The most lovely thing is being able to enjoy another person, especially the things about them that are different or strange to you.

The first thing people notice about me

My teal bangs are definitely very noticeable, but once people get over that shock, I feel like the first thing that people notice is that I'm not afraid to be on my own and to laugh. I'm proud of my independent spirit and ability to find humor in almost anything, so I'm glad that people see this.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman was the last book that I truly enjoyed. I'm definitely a bookwork all the time, but this particular book appealed to me because it's a synthesis of all of Whitman's work--he revised it over his whole life and is his only publication. It's also important to me because it has massive historical significance, and changed the way literature would be written and studied internationally. Since I plan on dedicating my career to the study of literature, I am passionate about everything I read.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am most thankful for the difficulties I've face in my past, because they have made me ambitious, confident, and strong.
  2. I have a few special friends and family members who I'm incredibly close to and thankful for.
  3. I'm also thankful for the opportunity to pursue what I'm truly passionate about and think freely.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I wish people could tell more immediately that I actually am very compassionate. Since I'm quite independent and determined, I think my first impression can seem aloof or cold. But once I slow down and get to know you, those aren't accurate descriptions at all.

A little more about me

I love meditating (even though I can't focus as much as I would like), I've frequently been known to wear granny night gowns, and I say the word 'rad' a lot. Additionally, I wear crazy hats, am a fan of anything with cats on it, and am slightly addicted to the show RuPual's Drag Race. And I'm not ashamed of any of it.
