More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Helping people, learning how to do new things, fencing, building fun projects. I can knit a sock and shoot a gun, ride a motorcycle and fly a plane.

I typically spend my leisure time

volunteering with our church youth group, tinkering with electronics, reading, riding my bicycle, motorcycle, getting a coffee with friends, browsing a bookstore, flying a little plane and seeing new places.

The most influential person in my life has been

I think a lot of qualities can be gained or lost, but good Character is not something you can fake or manufacture, and as a Christian, I believe that goodness and change happen in us as given by the Lord, and I think there's a direct relationship between having a heart for him and living with good Character.

The first thing people notice about me

I love to help! Weather it's taking out the trash, talking over a problem, helping move a folding couch, standing with a friend, giving a gift, explaining a concept, or fixing something broken, I like to be an agent of help and encouragement. I enjoy teaching, and I'm good at working with kids. ( shared immaturity? it's very possible.)

The last book I read and enjoyed

I just finished "The Elegance of the Hedgehog", which starts off being about two isolated neighbors, an ugly old woman, and a privileged young girl, and winds up capturing both unexpected grace and unexpected loss. It's a short read, with a lot of stage setting, but I cried at both the happy and the sad parts, and the storytelling kept me guessing, which I loved.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My sisters and brother and parents are a treasure.
  2. I'm thankful that God gives us challenges, everything we need for success, and then the rewards too.
  3. Finding so many places in the world that are different and all full of their own little styles and quirks.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Sometimes, I tend to be quiet when I first meet people, I listen to what they have to say and want to understand how they feel, and once I get to know someone I enoy putting that understanding to use with a quick sense of humor. What I consider gentleness or grace sometimes comes across as apathy, I suspect.
