More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I have a passionate love of visual art. I am also fascinated by history, folklore, language, and culture. I love to travel and spend time in natural settings. Healthy living -- good food (organic), moderate and regular exercise, play and relaxation figure high on my list of what I care about. I love the world and the people and creatures who inhabit it. I love living and I love my friends and family. My faith shapes all I do -- but I am not dogmatic and I am always growing in my beliefs. I like people who always seek to grow and improve themselves. I enjoy spending time with people who are different from me.

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy visiting with friends -- having long conversations, going places with them, sharing important and meaningful things . . . and laughing and playing together. I like spending time visiting parks and museums -- with others or by myself. And, I enjoy sitting in a quiet caf´┐Ż and writing or reading.

The most influential person in my life has been

A loving, creative, and adventurous spirit that shapes her life and infuses her relationships with Joy.

The first thing people notice about me

My laugh. I have a laugh that has been heard several floors above and below where I am.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Robertson Davies's Fifth Business (the first volume of the Deptford Trilogy). I've read it before -- but it's a book that calls me back again and again. It is about personal myth and collective myth and how we construct the stories of our lives. I appreciate Davies's sense that all of life is a self-creative and mutually-creative endeavor. We are both the authors of our own stories and the 'actors' giving life to a fine and beautiful performance.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The loved ones in my life -- family and friends. Relationships are the greatest treasure in my life.
  2. Creative expression -- on my own and with others. I am so grateful for the opportunities to create with, and inspire, one another.
  3. Playfulness and adventure in the company of loved ones. I am filled with Joy when I explore our world with the people I love.

Friends Describe me as

A little more about me

I want to eventually find someone with whom to share the adventure of life. It really is too beautiful to experience without someone with us. I am not looking to 'settle down' in the sense of nesting. I am a man of habits and routines that mean a lot to me -- but I also love to travel, grow, and change.
