The one thing I am passionate about...
Making the most of life by spending it doing the things I love. I love spending time with my family and close friends, eating good food, having good conversations, and making new memories. I also love to exercise my mind with GOOD books, movies and television, especially if the writing is high quality ("Mad Men" and "Scandal" current favs, but I'll always love "Firefly" and "Buffy").
I typically spend my leisure time
I am, part of a bowling league, and I enjoy the socializing aspects of it as much as the sport and improving my skill. I also love to read (historical fiction mainly), watch television and movies, write, and make bead jewelry.
The most influential person in my life has been
A sincere, kind, easy-going spirit. I am a compassionate person, and I want to be with someone who can understand and honor that. I also appreciate someone who doesn't take himself so seriously and can laugh at himself sometimes. I'd like to find someone who can be a friend, partner, and compatible mate to enjoy life with.
The first thing people notice about me
Their sense of humor and wittiness (or lack there of). I love to laugh and joke around. I have a bit of a sarcastic, sometimes dark sense of humor, and I love word-play and bantering. I love it when someone understands my sense of humor and can play with me in that way.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I recently read the "Hunger Games" series because my students were into it and encouraged me to read them. They are a trilogy set in the future in which rich and privileged class rules several impoverished districts, and the districts must send 1 male and 1 female 'tribute' to a fight to the death in a big arena known as the "Hunger Games'. It follows one girl from the poorest district as she tries to fight the odds and survive. I usually only read romance and historical fiction, but this thriller really surprised me. It was both action -packed and emotionally compelling. Now I really have something to talk about with my students!
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family, both immediate and extended, and time spent with them. I am very family-centered and love to spend time with my family.
- My educational opportunities. Education is power, and I'm very blessed to have had the opportunities that I've had.
- My career. As a school teacher, every day I get the opportunity to help shape the lives of my students and help them become the people they are meant to be.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I may look sweet, but I have spunk and sass. People are sometimes surprised by my wit and sense of humor as well.
